History

By order no. 025/oper., dated 31 August 1960, of the Minister of National Defense, General Marian Spychalski, Military Unit no. 3877 was formed. The secret name of the unit was Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia Grudziądz (military armament company Grudziądz) and it was supervised by the Armament Department which later became the Armament and Electronics Service Command of the Ministry of National Defense..

On 1 January 1968, by Decision of the Minister of National Defense no. 66/MON dated 10 October 1967, the Military Unit no. 3877 became self-financing and took the official name of Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia – Grudziądz.

In October 1974, by Decision of the Chief of the General Staff no. 032/Org. dated 4 April 1974 and by Decision of the Head Technology Inspector of the Polish Military no. 027 of 16 September 1974, Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia became subordinated to the Military Command of Repair and Manufacturing Companies.

By Decision of the Minister of National Defense no. 24/MON of 15 April 1982, the name Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia – Grudziądz was changed to Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia Nr 2.

On 1 July 2008, the state-owned Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia Nr 2 was transformed into a State Treasury owned company named Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia Spółka Akcyjna (a joint-stock company).

Since September 8, 2014 Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia S.A. have belonged to Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A.
